How We Give
We support causes in the community we call home. Our staff, volunteers, and institution gives back through financial contributions, resource donations and volunteering to many local organizations.
We sponsor and support educational programs throughout the Sioux Falls area. This includes:
- The Community Service Scholarship Award
- Adopt-a-Classroom Grants
- Junior Achievement
In 2017, Sioux Falls Fed launched a Volunteer Time Off (VTO) Program for our employees. During the work day, our staff is able to volunteer their time and talents to different organizations.
Over the last two years, our employees donated and suported:
Here are a few of our VTO projects:
|Chariots For Children||
Our staff spent a Saturday morning helping build over 170 bicycles for children in need. We had a great time coming together with the community to assist our youth.
Scissors, tape, tags and paper - check! Staff members were all smiles donating their time to assist with the Children's Inn Gift Wrapping booth.
As a way to support independent senior living in Sioux Falls, our staff assisted with Comfort Keeper's Annual Food Drive. We rolled up our sleeves and sorted food and bagged food for their participants.
|Dress For Success||
To help fulfill the Dress For Success mission of empowering women to achieve economic independence, Sioux Falls Fed held a clothing drive, assisted in sorting and displaying clothes, and decorating for Christmas season to help inspire women to take charge of their lives.
|Good Samaritan Society||
Visiting the residents at Good Samaritan Society always brings a smile to our faces and hearts. Sioux Falls Fed staff volunteered throughout the year as helping hands during monthly birthday and Christmas parties, caroling, cookie decorating, and Christmas present delivery.
|Great Plans Zoo||
Spending time with animals is always a favorite activity. Our staff was able to experience a unique volunteer experiences as they cleaned the Rhino area. Laughter and learning about this magnificent animal will be treasured memories.
Who had more fun - the animals or us? We spent a morning playing, walking, cleaning, and cuddling the animals at our Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
We are passionate about financial education! Each year, a group of employees volunteer with Junior Achievement to connect with area students, provide critical skills, and empower financial literacy skills.
As an inspiration to cancer patients, a group of SFFCU employees assembled over 100 prayer bottles.
|Prince of Peace||
Retirement is a time of enjoying friendships, hobbies and independence. The Prince of Peace Retirement Community held a Wine Tasting Event and our staff had a great time visiting, serving wine, cheese and crackers to the residents.
|Safe Families for Children||
Sioux Falls volunteers open their homes for children to stay during a temporary family crisis through Safe Families for Children. Sioux Falls Fed employees sponsored the family meeting room where children can meet the families that will provide a safe environment for them. We were able to use our decorating skills to plan the layout, provide furnishings, paint and put it all together.
|Teddy Bear Den||
A line of Sioux Falls Fed employee vehicles met at a local box store to pick up crib mattresses and baby supplies to deliver to the Teddy Bear Den. Our staff then sorted and displayed these items for their store.
